Self Portrait Friday...Feeling a Little Lost

I am feeling a bit lost lately. I came away from An Artful Journey with my heart wide open and belief in possibilities. I was part of a wonderful creative inspiring tribe of creative souls. I found the words to say I AM AN ARTIST and to say them out loud! (and to believe it) The past few months life as it is prone to due has been a bit crazy and I have lost my way a bit. It is still there swirling around in my mind. Paintings that need to be painted and jewelry that needs to be made. It is all there just waiting. The very good news is that life is calming down for the moment and it is time to regroup and find my way again. My son is settling into his new little home with his cats and creating his own new life here. That means I get my studio back! I am spending today reorganizing and shuffling rooms so I have studio space and my husband has office space. I am ready to spend time in my studio being creative, making art, and finding my way again.

Self Portrait Friday & A Walk Around Town

Friday Morning...off to do errands with my sister. It is always a
fun time no matter what we do. We never know when we will be
back!

I have a new camera to play with so I took a walk around our little town last night. I will probably read the manual at some point but it is not the first thing I do! I tend to figure things out by doing.

A little peek at our small downtown. It is still pretty quiet after the winter but I can feel the pace picking up as businesses reopen and seasonal people arrive for the summer. In a few weeks there will be flower pots and hanging baskets and people wandering the streets.

Lobster buoys waiting to go back in the water.

Lobster traps waiting to go out. I LOVE fresh lobster with butter! Care to join me?

A neighbor's garden. Maybe someday mine will look like hers! I am trying to enjoy the process and not make it a chore. When we bought the house 5 years ago there were no gardens. We have since planted 9 hydrangeas around the foundation, 8 or 9 peony's by the deck stairs, and a small annual garden. Last year we had a small vegetable garden. We'll see what shows up this summer!

Tug boats at the dock. Across the bay is Canada.

A view looking towards Deer Island

Low tide. The difference between high and low tide can be 24-26 feet. It really is something to see.

It is such a wonderful little town that we come to spend part of our year in. We live in a house that is about 100 years old. Over the 5 years that we have owned this house I have slowly come to learn some of its history and about the family that lived here before us. I kept some of the books that were left and a set of dishes that I found in the garage. I often wonder what their life was like. I like the pace of our life here. I like being able to walk to breakfast or to visit a friend. I love the quiet and the absolute darkness at night. When the full moon rises it is spectacular! The sound of lawn mowers on a sunny day is comforting in some way. It is very magical on this island.

Do you have a magical place?

Some Summer Classes

I have signed up for Kelly Rae's e-course. I am so excited to take this. Her journey of the last few short years is so inspiring.

In July I am taking this class with my sister. It has been a very long time since I took a drawing class! I am ready for a refresher! Gerald Cloud is a local Maine artist I discovered last summer. I love his work.

Later in the summer I am taking this class from the wonderful Stephanie Lee. I am beyond excited about this. She is teaching at An Artful Journey in july and I was hoping to fly back to California to take her class but that is not going to work out. I am thrilled she is doing an online course!

I am planning for a very creative and art filled summer! How about you? Are you taking any classes?
